Bespoke designed home steam rooms

Our expert craftsmen will apply decades of knowledge and experience to your installation. As a result, your bespoke home steam room will match your expectations in both utility and aesthetics. We can also work with your interior designer or architect’s vision. Alternatively, we can work with you direct to realise your personal vision.

All our steam rooms are designed and manufactured here in the UK. Notably, we do however design and supply right across the globe to many high profile clients. Choose from Bisazza mosaic tiling, starry sky ceiling lights, external control facility and more.

Design and consultation process

We will consult with you or your architect on every aspect of the design. Where possible, and on agreement we will provide designs of the steam room and a list of possible materials. If bespoke glass is part of the steam room, a site survey will be conducted after we finish the room or at a point the glass can be measured.

This is then drawn up as a glass manufacturing drawing for sign off and will be manufactured off site and then installed. Initially if it is an architect’s enquiry there’s usually a primary concept to start from. We will take the concept and make it a workable steam room design.

Choose from a range of materials

Your bespoke steam room can be finished in stone, tiles or mosaics. 20mm mosaics are most common and are needed to tile the curved fronts to the benches. Larger tiles can be used on walls or stone. We do not recommend heavy stone on the ceiling.

Getting your unique steam room installed

We will provide experienced advice on the steam room installation which will influence the final design. Our bespoke installation service usually takes 2 – 3 weeks if there is tiling and large sections of wall boarding to store, electrical and plumbing work included. A site survey will be conducted to measure up once the deposit is received.

The bespoke steam room would be then manufactured off site. On-site it is installed onto a waterproofed screed. The room is then tiled and any lights added. The steam generator and supply pipe is connected via a plant room. This is required to run the steam generator and will be listed in our quotation.

Looking after your steam room

Bespoke steam rooms need little maintenance and are cleaned the same way you would clean a shower. All steam generator parts are carried in stock. If there is a problem with your steam room we will either send you replacement parts or visit your premises and install them ourselves.

Leisurequip offer a 1 year’s part warranty on any steam generator installed. Additionally, we offer a 1 year guarantee with the steam room. Contact us if you need any more information.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have a custom steam room at home?

You’ll be happy to learn that most of the custom built steam rooms we install are not restricted to commercial premises and can be added to your home. It’s worth noting that you will need a fair bit of space, not just for the steam room itself but also for the steam generator. This is generally kept in a separate location for noise and maintenance purposes.

The type and size of your home steam room will be dependent on your space and your taste. For example, it’s probably not feasible to install a bespoke tiled steam room in a regular sized domestic bathroom.

How much does a bespoke steam room cost?

Costs for custom built steam rooms vary depending on design, style, size and interior additions such as seating and lighting. As a result we would say you need to budget anywhere from £9,000 to £30,000 for a domestic or commercial steam room. A room stat size would service from 2 to 10 persons at a time.

Are steam rooms good for your skin?

Enjoying regular steam bathing offers many benefits. Typically these include lower blood pressure, easing joint stiffness, improving circulation and a whole host of benefits relating to the respiratory system. Often overlooked though are the benefits to skin in general and to specific skin conditions.

More so, conditions such as eczema and dermatitis are understood to benefit more from using a steam room than using a sauna. The hot damp air drenches the skin resulting in a hydrating effect.

How often should you use a steam room?

There are many opinions on how often you should use a steam room. It’s worth noting that the general consensus seems to be 2-3 times a week. This however may change if you have a particular condition that benefits from continued use. Also, you may wish to undertake short exposure steam baths but much more often.
